Admissions Policy

Responsibilities of Registered Students
All students agree, by virtue of the act of registration, to be bound by and uphold the policies and procedures described by Nova Scotia College of Early Childhood Education.
Admissions Policy
The minimum requirement is a High School Diploma, Grade 12 or equivalency or as a Mature Student. the application documents are reviewed and an interview scheduled. Most applicants will be invited to the College for group interviews which take about two hours. Individual interiew arrangemetns will be made for applicants who are unable to attend a group session. Applicants may be admitted to the program under mature student stauts provided certain conditions are met, contact NSCECE at 902 423-7114 for more information.
Mature Student Policy
Applicants who do not meet admissions requirements as detailed in Section 8 of the General Regulations of the Private Career Colleges Regulation Act may be admitted to a program under mature student status provided the following conditions are met:
- The applicant is at least a twenty-one (21) years of age and has been out of school for a minimum of one year.
- The applicant participates in an interview process with a designated admission’s representative of the private career college.
- The applicant will provide the following documentation:
- School transcripts
- Letter outlining goals and action plan for success
- Personal resume
- Three letters of reference
- The applicant may be asked to participate in a standardized admission test in accordance with the admission requirements of NSCECE. Confirmation of approval of the test will be forwarded to the NS Department of Education.
Application
- Any person wishing to apply to the program must complete an official application form (available online) and submit it to the College along with a non-refundable administration fee of $25 and official transcripts (International Student $75).
- Applications are accepted for Fall in-take and processed on an on-going basis.
- All transcripts and supporting documents must be in English or have English translations attached.
- Application forms, transcripts and other supporting documentation will become the property of the College and will not be returned t0 the applicant.
Admission Process
- Once admissions criteria has been met applicants will be notified, in writing, of their acceptance.
- A statement of payment procedures and schedules will be included with acceptance letters. Payment must be submitted by date indicated.
- Upon acceptance, applicants will be required to pay a non-refundalbe registration free of $100 to be applied towards tution.
- Non-payment of the registration fee will forfeit the application and result in the application be cancelled.
- Accepted applicants will be allowed to postpone their acceptance for one year. The applicant must request postponement in writing.
- NSCECE reserves the right to refuse admission to applicants who are deemed unsuitable for entry into the program.
Registration Process
- Registered applicants will receive a welcome package with registration date along with class schedule, tuition payment arrangements and academic calendar, textbook list, medical form, etc.
- Registration is a full-day event with tuition payment and textbook purchases.
- It is the applicant’s responsbility to contact the Registrar if they will be unable to submit payments within the specified time frame.
- In the event of a fee increase, students will be required to pay the new rate.
